Hey Patrick, I have a CafePress store that costs about $5 a month. If I am lucky, I get a monthly commission from selling things that covers that cost. The only thing I find of use, is that it might bring traffic to your blog and site if you have one. I like to make my own stuff through CafePress (ie:magnets), buy them in bulk, and sell them at my art shows. I am considering closing my store, cause I can still make things without it.
I have not been all together thrilled with them--they sent me journals that were all beat up from poor packaging and handling. They replaced them at no cost, but the second batch I received was also beat up. The magnets look great, but I have ordered two batches of the same image, and the colors are vastly different on each--they sometimes have problems with color matching. They have really good customer service and will quickly exchange anything that is not right.
really, seriously thank you for sharing this information, ive been leaning twards the not doing it side and this further makes me think its not such a great idea
