don't discount yourself too much. You got a degree in animation? yeah, the market sucks for animators, but. even in crappy markets, there are still opportunities. you just have to find it in unconventional ways.
You got a pencil, draw some pencil studies, slap it onto youtube. link it to a portfolio site. hook up with other animators that are out of the job and do a 5 minute feature colab. keep your creative gears humming and your skills sharp.
Craig Thompson had a crappy job, but every night he would come home and just draw a comic about his life, and for 4 years, he did just that. The 600 page memoir is now considered one of the best examples of modern american story telling. It took him years, and I'm sure he thought about giving up, but his drive to create kept him going. and the payout was priceless. Blankets is an international best seller. and it was because of the crappy job that gave him the motivation to do it all.
What I'm saying is, get that fire inside, and throw your weight into it. you work at starbucks as a barista, but you are not a barista. you are an animator. Be who you are, and don't give up :)
